The way back

“I am striving to be more me than I’ve ever been” – Unknown

I came to the realisation a while back that my life somehow started running me instead of me running my life.

I’ve been reactive instead of proactive and always feel like I’m running to catch up or have time for myself.

Granted, it probably isn’t unusual for mums with young children (mine are six, four and one ) to feel that way all the freaking time at times.

I mean, everything is just so busy!

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore my family and doing stuff for them makes me happy but I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t continue to let myself and what makes me ‘me’ get lost in the process.

I need something for me.

Something that gives me my own space to be me, do what I love, have some fun, learn some cool stuff and bring back some of the extra zest for life that has been languishing in the corner for too long.

That’s where this blog comes in.

Writing, photography, singing, dancing and acting have always been part of my life.

Since having children I have certainly dabbled in them here and there, but it has never been consistent and sometimes it can be months between what feels like a binge-period on something.

I know that exercising my creative streak makes me happy and I’m on a bit of a quest to be more intentional about bringing it back into my life in some way every day.

I’ll be starting super small (otherwise I’ll just set myself up to fail) and building up to learning (or re-learning) how to do stuff I’ve always wanted to (illustration, painting, playing instruments, writing a book – the list goes on).

This blog will follow my journey to a life filled with creativity, learning and curiosity.

It will document the steps I take to create more time, space and energy for the hobbies I love, whether that be through better planning, setting intentions, decluttering, reorganising, exercising…whatever it takes really.

I’ll also challenge myself to try new things, create new habits across every aspect of life, share things that I find motivating and inspiring and chat to some talented creatives from across many mediums.

I’m really excited to get this blog off the ground (I’ve been gas-bagging about to my hubby for long enough, lol) and I look forward to seeing where it takes me.
